“Nabar”, a relatively unknown Punjabi film has won this year’s prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi.

In the past 5-6 years, only two Punjabi films have managed to get a national award, the other being “Anhe Gohre Da Daan”, which won 3 national awards, Best Feature Film in Punjabi, Best Cinematography and Best Director, the later two awards being a first for any Punjabi film. Ironically, Anhe Gohre Da Daan was not even nominated for any award at the recently concluded PTC Film Awards, touted to be the biggest film event in Punjabi Cinema.
